CFE-DCJ-Db. Laura Clara MALTBY, b. Nov. 1, 1882 (Geo.E.7, Geo.W.6, Wm.5,
Wm.4, Jos.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. June. 4, 1907, James REED II, (I
believe) a Naval Constructor. Res. Mare Island Navy Yard, Vallejo,
Calif. (1934) Res. 1880 Jackson St., San Francisco, California.
"When my daughter was staying at Martinez, Cal. about 1934/5, Mr.
Reed was one of the Head Construction Engineers on the new San Francisco
bridge. Mrs. Reed entertained my daughter at her club and at her apart-
ment--"one of the loveliest ladies I ever met" was her comment.
In 1941 Mr. Reed was made manager of Cramp's Shipbuilding Company
of Philadelphia, Pa. and Mr. and Mrs. Reed went there to reside. They
had been there but a short time when, quite suddenly, Mr. Reed died on
July 23, 1941. He had never had a sick day in his life or felt better."
Mrs. Reed closed their large house and returned to San Francisco (2140
Pacific Avenue) and resided with her son, Lieut. James Reed, Naval
Reserve, "ordered there for duty."
